This is the location of our ceremony. By june the leaves on the trellis should be think and green.

I'm thinking to hang flowers from the trellis to form a sort of abstract floral arch.

The scrubby plants under the trellis are lavender. I hope they'll be in bloom by june.

The distance between these two light posts is the length of our aisle (about 8m). I'm thinking to run some white fabric along the ground and sprinkle white rose petals over the edges...but I wonder how expensive 16 meters of rose petals will be? What other (cheaper) options should I consider?

After nearly a full day of running around to different florist shops and flower wholesalers, I finally found something which helped me explain my idea for the table centerpieces. Simple little vases of flowers. I will be using blue hydrangea, white ornithogalum, billy butons, coral red peonies and something green.

Having a girly day before the wedding, having fun doing the flower arrangements with my friends and family.

We bought 21 of these double-sided frames from ikea (3 per table). Here is the first example with Nico's grandparents on either side.

These will be on the table surrounded by little pots of flowers, there will be  a tall silver candelabra in the center of the tablescape.

We are already planning on using the double sided ikea tolsby frames as part of the table decor with old family photos in them. Three per table one with pics of my grandparents weddings, one with Nico's grandparents weddings and one with out parents weddings, between the frames small vases of field flowers will be scattered. Then I found this  menu/table number template, designed to go in these rames...so maybe I'll be heading back to ikea.

I'm thinking of this wallpaper as a backdrop for our DIY photobooth with this customizable sign.

A not very good first attempt at following instructions from Martha Stewart. Messy, cheap hot glue gun wasn't playing fair either. Nevertheless I quite like where this idea is heading.

procrastination...the first rosette

I am in the middle of exams, should be studying harder but the other day I made this rosette. The first of the ribbon rosettes. It has a vintage hexagonal glass button in the center for a little bit of sparkle to tone down the military look.

I'm in love with this deer I saw on one of the million wedding blogs I visit (can't remember which).

We have a huge deer head at our venue, in the room where we'll have our DJ. 

 I want to make him a flower wreath too!

Hen's Day Dream.

I'd love to go with a bunch of sisters and girlfriends to the Amsterdam floating flower market on the day before our wedding to buy the flowers for the castle. I'll let a professional make my bouquet, but how much fun and what an experience it'd be to go to the most famous flower market in the world to buy my wedding flowers!
Ahhh dreams are free, but I talked to Nico about it and he didn't say it was a bad idea. So we'll see. Dreams can come true!

Decor

In other news I've *almost* decided to change my fabric rosette brooch idea to ribbon rosettes. I was inspired by a collection of vintage horse show prize ribbons from the 50's and 60's that I saw on a blog recently.

I'm also starting to get obsessed with the idea of using typography as part of the decor.

Thinking about flowers

According to Belgian tradition the groom chooses the brides bouquet, which he presents to her when he comes to collect her from her family home before the wedding. We'll be changing this a little because my groom didn't know about this tradition till last night and I don't have a family home here. Since I've already been thinking quite a bit about my flowers, I think I'll order them and he'll bring them to me at his family home :-).

I want them to reflect the floral pattern of my shoes. So far all I know is that I want poppies (or those flowers that look like poppies, I think they are called anemonies), blue hydrangeas (my favorite), billy buttons and/or tiny daisies and coral coloured peonies.

I really love the bouquet in the first picture, with all the bright colours hiding behind the white poppy-like flowers, I'm going to try to get something like that.

But I also really like a random bunch that looks like it was just picked from a magical flower field, similar to the two pictures above.

For the table flowers we are either going to find a local flower market and buy fresh flowers on the morning of the wedding and arrange them by flower type in small glass vases ourselves or ask the florist to order them for us. Like in the picture above. Thanks Martha. We are also thinking of mixing framed photos of our parents and grandparents weddings and tealight candles amongst the flowers. I'm trying to find pretty frames from second hand stores that I'll spray paint (probably white or turquoise), but not having much luck so far.
